Our quirky collection of air plants and miniature terrarium gardens has been incredibly popular, with many designs finding new homes almost as quickly as we can display them.

Small Plants. Serious Personality.
Air plants and terrariums are perfect for anyone who wants to add greenery without turning their home into a full-time gardening operation.
They are compact, artistic and beautifully unusual—ideal for desks, shelves, bedside tables, offices or that suspiciously empty corner that needs a little personality.
Air plants, also known as Tillandsia, do not need to be planted in soil. Instead, they absorb water through their leaves, making them wonderfully versatile and easy to display.
Terrariums are tiny living landscapes contained inside glass. Closed terrariums can create their own miniature water cycle: moisture evaporates, forms condensation and returns to the soil, allowing the environment to recycle much of its own water.
Basically, they are tiny ecosystems doing big things. ✨
How to Care for Your Air Plant
Air plants are easygoing, but “air plant” does not mean “never needs water.” They still enjoy a regular drink.
Your Simple Air Plant Routine
🌤️ Place your air plant somewhere with bright, indirect light.
💦 Thoroughly mist or rinse it approximately twice a week. It may need slightly more water during hot, dry weather or when placed near air-conditioning.
🌬️ After watering, gently shake away excess water and leave the plant somewhere with good airflow so it can dry properly.
Once it is completely dry, return it to its decorative holder, terrarium or favourite display spot.
OTB plant rule: give it a refreshing drink—not a permanent swimming pool.
How to Care for a Closed Terrarium
A closed terrarium is the beautifully self-efficient member of the plant family. Once its internal ecosystem becomes established, it may need very little additional watering.
Look Before You Water
Check the glass and soil before reaching for the spray bottle.
If you can see a small amount of condensation and the soil still appears moist, your terrarium is likely doing exactly what it should.
When the soil begins to look dry and there is little or no condensation:

Open the lid.

Add a small, gentle mist around the soil.

Avoid completely soaking the terrarium.

Replace the lid and observe it over the next few days.
If the glass is constantly covered in heavy condensation, leave the lid open temporarily to allow some excess moisture to escape.
Too much water can encourage yellowing, mould and root rot, so remember: less is usually more.
Keep your closed terrarium in bright, indirect light and away from strong direct sunlight, heaters and hot windows. Direct sunlight can quickly turn the enclosed glass into a tiny greenhouse—just not the relaxing kind. ☀️
How to Care for an Open Terrarium
Open terrariums allow more moisture to escape, so they generally need to be checked more frequently than sealed designs.
However, this does not mean they need to be drenched every day.
Use your finger to gently check the soil:

If the soil still feels moist, leave it alone.

If the surface feels dry, lightly spray the soil around the base of the plants.

Do not soak the soil or leave water pooling at the bottom.
Watering needs may change depending on the plant variety, temperature, light, humidity and season. Checking the soil is often more reliable than following a strict watering calendar.
A spray bottle is particularly useful because it adds moisture gently without disturbing the miniature landscape.
